Prosecuting Attorney:
David Sutter

I am a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, Indiana, and I am proud to serve as your Prosecutor. I graduated from Southwestern High School in 2005 before attending Northern Kentucky University, where I earned my undergraduate degree in 2009. I then continued my education at the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University, graduating in 2012. Since taking office in 2018, I have remained committed to protecting victims, holding offenders accountable, and working closely with law enforcement and community partners to promote public safety.

My wife, Kate, and I live in Madison with our three children, Nolan, Hattie, and Henry. Being deeply rooted in this community, I care deeply about the future of Jefferson County and the safety of the families who call it home. I am committed to continuing to build strong partnerships, pursue justice with integrity, and ensure our community remains a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.

I am a product of Madison Township and Jefferson County. Having grown up as a farm youth, much time was spent in local 4-H activities. In high school, I was a decent athlete, holding the school record in the 880 dash and was selected as outstanding track athlete during my senior year.

I have obtained bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from Ball State University

Professional experiences include teaching, coaching, serving statewide educational agencies, superintendent of Southwestern Jefferson County Schools, School Board Member at Madison Consolidated School Corporation.

My wife and I continue to be active in several community organizations such as Kiwanis, Sons of American Revolution, Daughters of American Revolution, and attend Trinity Methodist Church.
