Prosecuting Attorney:
David Sutter

I am a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, Indiana, and I am proud to serve as your Prosecutor. I graduated from Southwestern High School in 2005 before attending Northern Kentucky University, where I earned my undergraduate degree in 2009. I then continued my education at the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University, graduating in 2012. Since taking office in 2018, I have remained committed to protecting victims, holding offenders accountable, and working closely with law enforcement and community partners to promote public safety.

My wife, Kate, and I live in Madison with our three children, Nolan, Hattie, and Henry. Being deeply rooted in this community, I care deeply about the future of Jefferson County and the safety of the families who call it home. I am committed to continuing to build strong partnerships, pursue justice with integrity, and ensure our community remains a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.

Commissioner- Upper: Brett Clark

I’ve been a Hoosier all of my life. Born in Shelbyville, raised in Bartholomew County on my grandparents’ farm, and graduated from Columbus North High School, but I have made Jefferson County my home. The country living in our county is the best!

What first attracted me to Jefferson County was the property at Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge, and I love the small towns here and the rural fabric of this area. I have had careers in manufacturing and in heavy equipment. But with my interests in landscaping, I know how to balance human function and design with nature. And as a cancer survivor, I know the importance of a healthy environment for us to live in.

Progress is important. But like you, I am concerned about how to mitigate harmful impacts to our county with any development that may come our way. I want to do my best as your next county commissioner to protect and preserve what I feel all of the citizens of this county value.

I am a first-time candidate running against an incumbent. But I have attended enough county government meetings in the recent past to know that our citizens’ voices are not being heard or best represented by our local officials. I want to change that!

I humbly ask for your vote on November 3rd and invite you on this new journey with me as your next county commissioner.

County Council District 4: John Hutchinson

I am a product of Madison Township and Jefferson County. Having grown up as a farm youth, much time was spent in local 4-H activities. In high school, I was a decent athlete, holding the school record in the 880 dash and was selected as outstanding track athlete during my senior year.

I have obtained bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from Ball State University

Professional experiences include teaching, coaching, serving statewide educational agencies, superintendent of Southwestern Jefferson County Schools, School Board Member at Madison Consolidated School Corporation.

My wife and I continue to be active in several community organizations such as Kiwanis, Sons of American Revolution, Daughters of American Revolution, and attend Trinity Methodist Church.
